| Beschreibung: | This paper analyses under which circumstances host providers can be obliged to remove illegal content (e.g. hate speeches) from their services. The analysis is mainly based on the E-Commerce Directive (2000/31/EC) and its implementation in the Austrian E-Commerce Act (ECG). Furthermore, the paper describes the European Commission’s efforts to combat illegal content, and finally, will raise remaining issues: Art 15 ECD - no obligation to monitor; Art 14 ECD - Liability exemption.
